Continuum of Care, Inc.’s mission is to enable people who are challenged with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, addiction, or homelessness to rebuild a meaningful life and thrive in the community.
Michael

Following his year long hospitalizations, Mike didn’t know what to expect when he came to Continuum. He was referred to Continuum
because he needed a stable, sober, and structured living environment, as well as needing to maintain medical compliance.
With the combination of staff and services, he made significant strides in all aspects.
Mike’s case manager, Darryl Petteway adds that Program Manager Amonie Cheeks was also very beneficial to Mike’s transition to Continuum. Anything he needed she made sure to advocate for him. She treated him like her son. “Often during the process of Mike's transition, I wondered how Mike would integrate into the program. Our main priority was making sure he felt secure not only with us but with the progress he had made over the course of his life. It was important to the program to be connected with Mike and his needs as much as possible, because ultimately this was going to be his home, his safe space. Mike was truly a breath of fresh air, who added laughter and unity, expanded our knowledge of client support, and kept us on our toes,” reflects Amonie.
According to his conservator, and now dear friend of 32 years, Attorney Earl Temchin, “Mike’s daily needs, medical needs and the temptation from the streets proved too much for him. Mike waited for more than a year to get into this amazing residence at Continuum. And it’s with the ratio of staff to residents, the personal attention that he gets every day, together with Continuum programs that makes this work.”
For a number of years, Mike has attended weekly meetings at Fellowship Place, a provider of therapeutic and rehabilitative services for adults living with mental illness. In December 2023, Fellowship Place recognized him with an award for his commitment to the program and his desire to remain free of substances. This is an award that Mike proudly hangs on his wall at his Continuum home.
Temchin adds, “I can tell you that this is by far the best that Mike has ever been. And that is a credit to his case manager Darryl, program managers Amonie and Jasmine (Haynes), and the entire company and the support that it gives its residents.” Little else feels better than a sense of being cared about, accomplishment and self-worth for our clients. Certainly, nothing feels better for our staff than seeing our clients grow and thrive.
